NATIONAL SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND INNOVATION SKILLS ENHANCEMENT PROJECT (NSTEI – SEP)

The National Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation Skills Enhancement Project (NSTEI-SEP) in Uganda aims to bolster the country’s technological and skill base, enabling greater participation in strategic national infrastructure projects and manufacturing industries. This initiative focuses on retooling and upskilling Ugandan graduates, craftsmen, technicians, and engineers, thereby empowering them to design, implement, and manage significant infrastructure projects.

A key component of NSTEI-SEP is the establishment of the Technology Innovation and Business Incubation Centre (TIBIC) at the Kampala Industrial Business Park in Namanve which hosts the Deep Tech Centre of Excellence. This center serves as a platform for technology development, offering common user facilities and shared workspaces for scientists and innovators. It is designed to catalyze the commercialization of advanced technologies, fostering a conducive environment for deep tech innovations.

Through TIBIC, NSTEI-SEP significantly contributes to Uganda’s deep tech ecosystem by providing essential infrastructure and support for innovators. This effort is instrumental in bridging the gap between research and industry, facilitating the translation of scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions, and positioning Uganda as a hub for deep tech excellence.
