The Research to Industry (r2i) platform is an initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application. By fostering collaboration among universities, research institutions, and the private sector, the platform aims to translate scientific findings into market-ready products and services, thereby enhancing the country’s technological and industrial growth.

Research to industry contribution to Uganda’s Deep Tech Centre of Excellence:

• Facilitating Technology Transfer: R2I promotes the commercialization of research outputs by connecting innovators with industry stakeholders, ensuring that groundbreaking technologies are effectively integrated into the market.
• Supporting Startups and SMEs: The platform provides mentorship, funding opportunities, and business development services to startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to scale innovative solutions and contribute to the deep tech ecosystem.
• Enhancing Research Capacity: By offering training and resources, R2I strengthens the capabilities of researchers and entrepreneurs, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous development in deep tech fields.

Through these efforts, the r2i platform plays a pivotal role in positioning Uganda as a hub for deep tech excellence, driving economic development and technological advancement.
