SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATION SECRETARIAT – OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT (STI-OP)
The Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretariat – Office of the President (STI-OP) in Uganda is dedicated to enhancing the nation’s capacity in science, technology, and innovation. Its primary goal is to increase the contribution of knowledge-based goods and services to the national economy by boosting domestic productivity, promoting import substitution, and expanding the export of products derived from scientific and technological advancements.
A significant initiative by STI-OP is the call for applications targeting grant awards for research and development (R&D) and innovations. This program encourages individuals and institutions to develop new processes, products, technologies, or business models across various thematic areas, thereby fostering a culture of innovation and practical application of scientific research.
In contributing to Uganda’s deep tech center of excellence, STI-OP plays a pivotal role by supporting the development and commercialization of advanced technologies. Through strategic partnerships and funding opportunities, it facilitates the transformation of innovative ideas into market-ready solutions, thereby strengthening the country’s technological infrastructure and positioning Uganda as a hub for deep tech innovation.
